Almost 70 percent of black children are born to single mothers. Those mothers are far more likely than married mothers to be poor, even after a post-welfare-reform decline in child poverty. They are also more likely to pass that poverty on to their children.

Blame Lyndon Johnson. Before the "Great Society" that cranked up welfare so high that women didn't need their men the black community had *lower* rates of crime than equivalent sized white communities. Its a fact.

As soon as the dems loaded these folks up with free cash, free housing, free medical and free food the african-american family unit disintegrated. Instead of learning from the experience the liberals have been doubling down on that policy ever since. After a couple generations alot of black men no longer feel any particular responsibility for their offspring. Children raised by women often lack discipline. We're seeing the results now.
