Democrats are rallying back behind the 2010 health reform law and boosting President Obama's ratings for handling the law's rollout, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

Overall, 49 percent support and 48 percent oppose the health reform law in the new poll, hardly changed from January (46-49 support-oppose) but clearly better than November, when 40 percent expressed support and 57 percent were opposed. The growth in support has been concentrated among those who "somewhat" support the law, with strong opponents still outnumbering strong supporters by a 36 to 25 percent margin.

The ObamaCare health care exchange website that Maryland designed is such a monstrous failure that the state government is pulling its plug tomorrow and replacing it with a website which essentially mimics the architecture of the actually-functional Connecticut state exchange. In the process, Maryland taxpayers have seen $125.5 million of their hard-earned tax dollars flushed down the drain by 2016 president hopeful Gov. Martin O'Malley (D) and his protege, Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown, whom O'Malley tapped as his ObamaCare point man, and who is pursuing the Democratic nomination for governor this June.

The ACA is here to stay. If the reps really want to do good they should tackle the high health care costs. I talked to a buddy yesterday another contractor and he wasn't insured before and bought a compliant plan and he told me about another contractor who did the same. It's working guys, forcing people to take personal responsibility. Personal responsibility... the democrats battle cry for the midterm.

I disagree that it's making people take personal responsibility. First, we know that upwards of 85% of those signing up get subsidies. In other words heavily discounted premiums (and discounted deductibles). Further, as we've discussed, people who choose to not exercise, eat crappy food and who have health issues brought on by these choices are getting premiums (before the subsidies) that they are not truly qualified for. Choosing to be a high risk person should not allow that type person the same rates as someone who does all the right things (exercise, diet). In reality, the people who make the poor choices are actually being rewarded ... first, by getting lower premiums than they deserve and second, by getting subsidies.

You and I can disagree on many of the aspects of this but it's incredibly flawed and non-sustainable long term in its current form. Financially it will topple eventually unless changed since there's no way to maintain the level of subsidies. Further, those who are slobs have no real incentive to change their behavior. Now they get health insurance and it's subsidized ... what could be better for them? Basically this is just an extension of Medicaid ... give free or heavily subsidized services to people. But as one who volunteers in high poverty areas I see the parents on Medicaid make no changes to become more fit since they know their health care is free and will forever be that way.
