According to both Naji and Tait, Ahmadinejad's father Ahmad was in fact a religious Shia, who taught the Quran before and after Ahmadinejad's birth and their move to Tehran. So religious was Ahmad Sabourjian that he bought a house near a Hosseinieh, a religious club that he frequented during the holy month of Moharram to mourn the martyrdom of Imam Hossein.

You did not get it. The reason those articles about Ahmedi was published are likely for these reasons (read haaretz and jpost for instance):

1. Zionists realized that he is smart and has won in the nuclear dispute. So labeling him as Jewish is a way to say he is smart because of his heritage, to take credit.

2. By writing about his Jewish past, they may be hoping that Muslims will reject him. I do not think that people judge him based on religion but based on his arguments. I watched some interviews he had with Brian Williams, and the old zionist guy on 60 ministers, as well as with the 360degree talker, etc. He ripped through them with such ease.

The jury is still out on who is right, the outcome of this debate is totally irrelevant.
