There are two fundamental issues with this "Unarmed Pipe Bombing Attempt" that indicate this is a false flag operation that involve Leftists operatives, possibly a news reporter, and an possible unwitting helper.

Has the FBI questioned him and followed up on the photographer? In the FBI interview, did the perp mention anyone who took a particularly strong interest in him? If so, did the FBI follow up with that person?
It is interesting to note the posters in the van were new looking. It does not take long for the Florida sun to fade things in hot vehicles. This may imply that either the perp or someone else was trying to sell the perp as being a devout Trump supporter. Were the new posters the perp's or were the result of a suggestion from another? Admittedly, the perp does wear a faded t-shirt bearing his "mural". How long did he have that t-shirt as evidenced by witnesses or photographs? How did the perp obtain his posters? Who printed them? Who designed it? Who actually paid for it? How old is his social media accounts? How active was he? What are his internet search patterns? Was the the perps employment status? Did he attend church? What do his co-workers and neighbors say about him? What is his familial status? Sorry if these questions have been addressed recently, but I have been too busy at work to perform much research. Answers to these questions and witness interviews will give us a better understanding to this guys real motives and capabilities.
I believe it is likely the perp was contacted by a member of the media who was looking for a red hearing to use as an example of a typical Trump supporter for one of his stories. This reporter struck gold when he found the perp: Stupid, trusting, and a history of bomb making. This reporter probably bragged to a Democrat operative of the idiot he found. After doing a little background into the guy, he or they realized they could possibly use him to influence the upcoming election. It is through this hypothetical chain of events the perp probably got a list of addresses of the most prominent and powerful people in the United States. Then again, the perp may not have even obtained the materials for the bomb and may not have even designed it. He may have even be shown how to build them, though ad his genetic material is on the bombs. How easy and convenient. The reason I say these things is because the Radical Leftists would want the bomb to considered dangerous in order to lend some credibility to the planned "attack", but yet have no real risk of them going off in the unlikely chance they were actually handled by the "intended" recipient. Having obviously non working bombs would also tend to limit potential legal liability if they are ultimately caught by authorities.
Concept Two: "Get the benefit of seriously damaging your opponent through media coverage while minimizing your legal exposure". This concept in of itself implies sophisticated, top level powers are involved in this apparent false flag operation.
