Constitutional monarchies do not work the same way as full representative democracies. Furthermore, the EU has draconian laws that in crisis situations pan out better. For example there's no concept of "state's rights".
Of course these things make it easier to pass large sweeping changes to a population of people quickly. We (thankfully) do not have this "luxury" and the federal government is by design slow. In crisis situations this can sometimes cause problems. We solve this via state's rights.

There is no concept of states rights? Because they are countries you nutsack. Within those countries if they have subdivisions they have plenty of autonomy like Scotland or Wales. The anti EU press in the UK has made up unbelievable amounts of horseshit about EU regulations. There was a list of crazy things Rupert Murdock's papers said the EU was taking or forcing and it was nearly all made up.
And let's not forget what happened to the autonomy of the govoners in an emergency when King Trump told them to just do what the fuck he says. The monarchy part of the handful of countries that have them are for tourism and entertaining state guests.
