MAGA: Gas prices have hit their highest level in three years

They should be higher, with a revenue neutral carbon tax.

I agree completely. We all know that there is no Republican support for such a proposal, and so I call upon Democratic leadership to introduce a Bill calling for an increase in the Federal tax on motor vehicle gasoline in order to raise the pump price 50% higher and to implement a revenue-neutral carbon tax plan to Committee immediately. The sooner it gets to the floor the better. Copy British Columbia; Copy Australia; doesn't matter to me. Just do that quickly please.

It wouldn't be that much. Do you know anything about how a revenue carbon tax would work?

I'm sure you're much more expert than I am. I read the Hoover Institute's White Paper on the Canadian and Australian revenue neutral carbon tax experiences to date and that's about it. But, if you like CCL's proposals, go with it - start out at 16 cents per gallon and then ramp it up from there.

I do have some first hand knowledge about how the US government handles other "revenue neutral" programs like Social Security and the billions of dollars the DOE collected from utility customers to build a high level nuclear waste repository that never got built.

By all means, I do support you and I sincerely hope that the Democratic Leadership takes up this revenue neutral carbon tax program with great haste and brings it to the floor for a vote. I'm surprised Obama didn't pursue your idea straightforward domestically instead of pushing it off until later in that Paris Climate Accord.

Obama did not support it because, just like with single payer health care, the GOP is totally against it.

The Republicans are the biggest obstacle to making the US- and the world - greater. They are good at giving breaks to the wealthy though.

One thing is for sure.....if mankind doesn't get the greenhouse gas emissions under control there will be hell to pay. Survivability is the key word, for all living things on earth.

That's confusing - no Republican, House or Senate, voted for the ACA (Obamacare). That did not stop President Obama from pursuing his policies.
