Millions of American hard working people lost ton of money and jobs , I mean people that actualy work with hands, nothings been recovered. This guy scammed the rich jews out of billions , and for some strange reason Feds recovered the original amount ,plus extra .
If one does a bit of digging through financial archives, the actual amount lost is approximately $20B. What has been recovered has been a bit over $10B. Even elementary math shows that as an approximate 50% loss not counting even the rate of inflation.

Reading this thread I was so confused: either people weren't doing math right or I wasn't looking at the right numbers. Thanks for clearing this up.
Note that much has been made of the fact that the majority of Madoff's victims were Jews.
Why?
Why does it matter that a Jew victimized Jews? Is the idea that a Jewish scam artist is expected to victimize only "gentiles" (etymology: 'heathens')? What does this tell us about our perception of the Jews and their relationship with the rest of the human population?
Do we make a fuss about Italians scamming Italians or Irish scamming Irish or Wasps scamming Wasps or Jamaicans scamming Jamaicans? What's special about a Jew scamming Jews?
