Really interesting debate : I have come to change my views and starting to believe that education does improve people's political acumen. The lack of education , I am now starting to think, make it easy for people to be manipulated politically.

May I ask : how did you come to have your point of view ? I used to think the same, but now, I have started to see things differently.

Living life and talking to people. I know several well educated people who think Clinton is honest and trustworthy, that her concern expressed is genuine. It's laughable. I also well educated people who think Obama is a Muslim, and republicans have a fair and reasonable tax plan. Hysterical.

I am not talking about rote learning - though it has its benefits - I am talking about learning critical thinking.

Actually thank you for getting me to reflect.
In fact, when we talk about education, to acquire critical thinking, most think in terms of university. The truth is: education can be acquired through different ways - for instance the "hard knocks" is the best type of education if the person survives, but also the harshest with the lowest survival rate.
So no, not all university education is the same: some are better at getting people to acquire a certain set of skills than others. Also, university education is not enough: there are all the "soft" skills, that are often missing.
