I'm suspicious of high-end desktop cooling systems. Does anyone have any experience, good or bad?

i don't think this machine is a true "supercomputer" -- esp considering it is only a 32bit machine LOL!!
...wouldn't a G5 be considerably faster, since it is a true supercomputer?
...or a 64bit dual AMD?

Maybe, but Linux doesn't run on the SGI Origin 3900.
If you want Linux you have to choose the SGI Altix 3000 server. Linux is still not in the same league as the professional Unixes.

I have never understood why SGI is such a cheap stock. IMHO, it should be at 20.

bungrider,
I wonder about you. You called yourself a newbie in programming a few days ago and right here you are giving your thoughts about "supercomputers"!
Funny at best.
