MACD/Trendline Swing Trader

epetrov,

Kindly Fax or Mail... forget that, E-MAIL me some patience.. haven't you been following this Journal..?? LOL..

Here's the HOC Weekly chart... Similar to VLO... Until their upper trendlines are seriously broken, you HAVE to believe they will break the lower, AND Oil needs to stay put or rise.. whatever it takes for the so called crack spread to stay put or worsen... But I am a chartist.. SO a bounce back to 44 is to be shorted as the reversal from a low (38), if it happens will be viscious based on recent Volatility.. Hard to short the break down with any confidence..

Anyone remember this??

And three weeks later...

What do you mean by that?

Whenever live market events cause me to override a pre-planned trade that's a daytrade... Greed and Fear.. See page one of this thread.

Step 1 .. Find stocks that swing reliably i.e. tend to do full candles with fake-outs.

Please help me out, Rashed:
I´ve trouble in understanding the meaning of "fake-out". The definition investopedia.com gives (kind of trap), doesn´t make sense to your statement, does it?
I guess "full candles" refers to candles with only little shadows, right?
Can´t put these two terms together...

Thanks!

PS: By far best journal-thread I´ve seen in ET for years.

Sorry.. I meant "without" fake-outs.. So you are right.. The body must be as great a percentage of the whole thing as possible.... alternately a 2 or 3 day moving average should travel cleanly in a given direction with few wiggles..

Glad you like the thread....

Step 2 .. Sort that list by MACD, keeping an eye for "themes" or group behaviour.

What do you mean by themes or group behavior? Just repeating patterns throughout a stock?

Also, when you find one with a 4 day high setup, what do you like to see on the MACD and ADX? If I remember right you said you don't pay a lot of attention to the MACD crossovers?

You're doing good work here, thanks for taking time to answer our questions.

Excellent thread retire!

All the best in the market today.

JRCC, VQ, and PICO showing up in my scans as potential shorts today depending on price action.

I just meant sector behaviour.. Right now the commodities seems to be healing with the Ag's leading..

The crossover is nice BUT if the breakout comes early as long as MACD looks to cross soon.. take the trade.. ADX is great but MACD does about the same and I want to keep things simple..

JRCC.. depends on your perspective... Looks like the short money has been made to me, unless it closes under the trendline..

Looking like a dismal week... Breakouts have been failing and I have tried to make up for it in vain. Also nasty flu all weak..

Current positions attached .. all long .. I really think there is not much left on the short side short-term (S&P 1250 support likely to generate a tradeable bounce) in the markets so good low MACD buys in strong sectors should survive..

Taking a few days off..
