Does anyone trade on a Mac computer with Windows installed in it via bootcamp? Since Mac is really not trade platform friendly I have been debating to go to a Microsoft computer or just download Windows on the Mac. I would like some feedback on Windows installed on a Mac. Thanks in advance.
 
I never understood people who use bootcamp -- that's like buying a Mercedes, but using a Toyota engine inside.:confused:
Oh well, but to answer your question...you should be fine -- that's the purpose of it...to use Windows on a Mac.
 
A Windows on Mac via bootcamp is no difference with a native Windows computer, except some keys are different (Command VS Win key).
But you may also try VirtualBox, which allows you to run Windows inside Mac.
 
I have traded using a macbook pro(with 3 external monitors) with bootcamp running W7 for the past year. I do not recommend it at all . Bootcamp is not the real windows experience. You will find yourself running into lots of problems. lack of bios, driver problems, issues when reinstalling windows, issues repairing the mac (unless you have no problem forking up like 50% of the purchase price to apple), etc. Get a real windows machine
 
Have been trading Interactive Brokers - Amibroker on Windows 7 /8 in bootcamp on a Mac mini since July 2011. Advantages are multiple: No brain dead idiots in a plane wrecking a laptop in my carry on luggage - just take the mac mini, next to indestructable. Keyboard and mouse in checked luggage, TV in hotel as monitor (HDMI) or monitor at destination. Second advantage: built in backup using Winclone / Backup4All onto second SSD which also holds small OS X installation. Restoring windows takes less than 10 minutes. It is possible to use TWS on OS X to get out of a trade but have not ever had the need to use this. Above all: quiet and only sipping power. Every year a new Mac mini and the existing one gets relocated to backup machine (and gets used by the wife for browsing etc). After year two the oldest gets sold off, this cycling of equipment means a low total cost of ownership (TOC).

At home I now use a Dell U2515H monitor (after having used 24" and 27" monitors) this one just works perfect for me.

My experience has been exactly the opposite. If you have a genuine Windows license and follow the proper installation procedures it is the easiest, foolproof way to install Windows and I have not had a single hickup in all these years. Bootcamp holds all the drivers you'll need.

Prior experience were with Toshiba Tecra's and IBM Thinkpads, last one the T61P built under supervision of IBM engineers. Don't like the laptops that Lenovo produces, not in the same category as under IBM. Lost count of how many laptops I've gone through, well over 20. (and don't get me started on the early Dell Latitude's, NEC or Sony Vaio's that I've had too.....)
 
I'm running Windows 7 via VirtualBox on a MacBook Pro laptop and a iMac - no problems whatsoever.

Ideally I'd like to toss away Windows forever, but I need it to run "Downloader", which is Metastock's EOD data downloader and only supports Windows.

Running Windows via VirtualBox in OSx means you have direct access to the Windows filesystem (and vice-versa to the OSx filesystem) and you can also cut-n-paste. Performance is not really an issue with modern hardware specs +16Gb RAM and i7 multi-core processors, I don't see any advantage of running Bootcamp.

just one example, my macbook pro does not have a driver for a external microphone in windows. even with bootcamp. i looked around the web and it looks like this a common issue. the list of issues just keep pilling up
 
As for this please use only Windows if possible, I am not sure what people thinking who owns the Macs except all this things anyway. And I do not assume that every broker will simply use something like you MacOS for example. But Windows everywhere.
