low-cost charting software?

You could try this FREE charting software available from

There is a PRO version that is available for about $200 us
but the basic free version offers a great deal and is therefore fantastic value at zero cost.Requires you have the raw data to import into program and will interact with quotetracker and some broker's data ie etrade for intra day but that may be a pro feature.

also have a look at " incrediblecharts " web based charting for free or paid

Prophet finance will suffice if your just using historical. Not sure on pricing, but they offer the basics for free.

Both freecharts and incrediblecharts look like they are for stocks only. I'm looking for futures charting software.

I know you dont care about backtesting,but I just dont see how you can beat Amibroker for the price.....

Thanks taowave. I'm trying out amibrokers free trial and am very impressed! What data feed do you suggest for delayed futures data? The amibroker site recommends Quotesplus for $19/mo.

Price is price. It doesnt matter what the underlying instrument is. You cleary have a big misunderstanding of what a chart is.

As for incrediblecharts you're limited to data provided by incrediblecharts, not any other sources. But if they wanted to add 3rd party data or make additional markets available themselves, there would be no reason the chartware would not work. Even with futures.

Again, price is price. Any charting software (worth using) can chart futures, as long the datafeed or data format is supported.

Esignal has an end of day offering for $295 a year. I believe it has the same functionality as the regular esignal but it doesn't work during trading hours.

So if you want to look at 6 months of historical data for a 120 minute chart you can do it.

Thanks osorico. I understand price is price, however i'm looking for delayed (and reliable) futures data not just EOD data sources that are listed on the spacejock site. The key here seems to be whehter as you say "the datafeed or format is supported".

I use Amibroker with Premium Data as an EOD feed for stocks and futs. It's very reliable with few misquotes and owner is pretty responsive. The great thing about it is that they have a plug-in for importing into Amibroker. The process of setting up your databases is totally seamless.

Make sure that Premium provides all the contracts you need before signing up.

ESignal is probably the best of the midrange offerings - I just prefer to do business with smaller organizations where you can get someone on the phone if you want to. I hate ESignal support, and they've dealt in bad faith in the past, IMO.

If price is a factor then I think Sierrachart with Opentick is the way. Unless of course your brokerage feed is supported by your chartware, or you want EOD only which is generally free.

Youll pay monthly to sierrachart and only exchange fees (your choice) to opentick, also monthly.

Amibroker and/or Quotetracker do not support Opentick, so for RT or streaming delayed you will generally pay between $20-$60 monthly for some feed PLUS monthly exchange fees. Unless your broker feed is supported or you only want EOD.
