Hope u don't literally mean this btw. Zero carbs would mean you miss out on eating vegetables which are perhaps the most nutritious class of food on the planet.

No. Let me be clear. I mean no REFINED carbs which means giving up Italian Bread and Pizza...not an easy task for a New Yorker. Broccoli, fruits (in moderation) and some whole grains make up a large part of my diet. 4 weeks in and almost 12 pounds lost. I'm not keen on the whole paleo thing but I must admit it yields positive results.

Yeah..I thought that was so fascinating. I saw some scans of it (not in me thank God) and the cancer cells lit up like the 4th of July...

Yeah even Ketogenic diets allow for certain fruits and veggies while still maintaining ketosis.

A good substitute for Metformin and perhaps more effective is Berberine. The jury is still out, but it looks promising.

Jeez I would prefer to avoid both of those if possible..cannot imagine possible side effects...

I partially disagree because there are plenty of people diagnosed with Type 2 who have reversed it with significant changes to diet plus exercise. I do agree with your implied point that it should be prevented entirely when someone gets a pre-diabetic diagnosis but sadly people ignore the warning signs or avoid the doctor even.

only at the VERY VERY early stages through strict NO-SUGAR, LOW-REFINED carb diet coupled with exercises especially weight-bearing ones, then yes the disease can be cured or at least effectively controlled even without medication.

Also people with early Type 2 and even further along do not have to go strict no sugar though it is better for them. Simply being better balanced and losing weight through exercise can allow for sugars as long as you keep testing annually glucose levels to make sure you are under control.

STRICT NO-SUGAR, low-refined carb diet coupled with exercises especially weight-bearing ones is the ONLY way to reverse (if at VERY EARLY stage of the disease) or control the disease with or without medication. And after a certain stage, medication is MANDATORY. Skipping medication is VERY dangerous and can put one at serious health risks. Take it from somebody who's just lost a loved one to this dreadful disease. We tried EVERYTHING under the earth, NOTHING worked. There is NO miracle drug, no miracle cure, no miracle treatment or no miracle diet. Just PURE discipline to stay away from sugar, take as low as possible of refined carb with or without medication. Anybody who tells you otherwise is trying to sell you something. RUN!!!

Typee 2 can be a wide spectrum depending on how long the damage has been done so we are not trying to discuss a one size fits all approach and I don't think the study does either. If someone is doing a good lifting program they have tolerated some sugar better because the insulin response improves to shittle glicose to the muscles for storage. This depends on the person, age, and level of resistance exercise so even that is not a one size fits all approach. In my experience with Type 2 in others some have reversed it with proper diet and exercise and some have no choice but to shoot insulin AND control diet. We are speaking mostly in this reference of early Type 2 being reversed. Also, no one here has anything to sell

Metformin is a great drug. I've heard of top researchers in the field who are healthy take it daily. I hear it reduces gluconeogenesis in the liver and may be effective in preventing cancer (or killing off existing cancer cells).

AFAIK, i don't need to take it but I may discuss with my doctor next time if it might be useful to take as a preventive type of measure.

Correct but I think they may be refering to those diagnosed with it early on who can reverse the "sensitivity" and prevent it from coming back if they maintain the healthier lifestyle.. It can get to a certain point where your body basically ignores insulin and then you have a serious problem as nerve damage begins to increase and you have no choice but to "regulate" with diet and take more severe medications. Quite sad for many people since it is derived from something we create ourselves versus Type 1.
