Link, i've thought for a long time about why so many people do this. Here's what i've got, hope it helps:

That kind of behavior results from not truely believing in your rules/system.

Take a hard look at your rules. Where did they come from? If they are your own, what evidence do you have to convince yourself that it is a good thing? If they are from someone else, have you seen this person achieve success with them?

WHY SHOULD YOU BELIEVE IN YOUR RULES?

You've got to be able to answer that question authoritatively, without a doubt, no hesitation, no uncertainty. Only then will a trader be able to follow his rules.
