Losing a few pounds and tightening up my ABS

As already eluded to, the tightest abs won't show threw fat, it's about the nutrition. I'm just beginning a new regiment of a 5/2 fast routine. Eating healthy for 5 days and Tuesdays and Thursday will be my 75% reduction in calories. I think it's a good way to enter this new routine for about a month and then go to a more complete fast on those two days longer term. I will also be holding to a 14/10 fast period on the days I do eat regularly. I will not be doing any gym activity during those two days, fasted workouts aren't my thing and not good for me personally. Can't really do the 16/8 as it doesn't quite fit my schedule.
As for targeted abs, I like leg lifts.

Fasting only works if it leads to an overall caloric intake deficit. Some people who use fasting can’t control themselves during the time window when they’re allowed to eat. Resulting in that they overeat. This is something to beware of.

I do some a light workout everyday.
I do yoga daily, for about 20-30 minutes.

I also do 50 push-ups and 50 deep knee bends a few days a week.

When I do my push-ups, I do them non-stop, ( it took me about 3 months to get to that level ) but I start to get winded around #40 - #45. The last few repetitions are sloppy .

Is there any benefit to doing 50 non stop as opposed to doing two sets of 25 a few minutes apart ? Assuming that the 25 in each set are 'good ones'?

What about doing 2 sets of sit-ups with 25 in each set? Would there be any benefit to doing them over 1 set of 50?

I am relatively trim and fit. I will never be on the cover of Muscle and Fitness magazine, but I am healthy and feel good.

I want to lose about 6-10 pounds and tighten up my stomach. I drink a couple of diet Cokes every day, although I have been drinking more water. Nutella is a drug I find hard to shake, but I have been eating more fruit lately.

I am eating more chicken and seafood, and I have reduced the pork and red meat in my diet.

I know I need to kick the sodas and junk food out of my life, but there is much less of it now than there was a year ago.

I have heard a lot about Creatine. If I took some Creatine or some other supplement, would that help me lose a few pounds and tighten up my stomach.

Currently, I take a multivitamin / multimineral, DHEA, Omega 3, B12, CoQ10 and a 81MG aspirin daily.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
What you eat doesn't matter nearly as much as how much you eat. Shoot for a 500 calorie daily deficit. This should allow you to lose 1 pound per week while minimizing muscle loss. Stick with the Nutella if you love it. It won't really make a difference as long as you're eating in a calorie deficit.

Caffeine can help a little with energy, but I've never come across any supplements that help with weight loss. Creatine will add water weight. This is great if you're trying to max out your benchpress, but not if you're trying to lose weight.

Do your pushups slow and controlled. Concentrate on your chest & shoulder muscles when you do them. Minimize the sloppiness & joint movement as much as you can. Do as many as you can with proper form. You can always do multiple sets if you need to. You might also try doing chinups as well. You're working out your legs, abs, chest & shoulders, but you aren't doing anything for your back.

Good luck.

I lived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for 3 years in the early to mid-90s. Some of the Saudis I worked with gained weight during Ramadan.

I would only add that keeping the Nutella in daily while going into deficit means you are not eating the right calories that will keep you full longer and prevent the binge eating. If you eat 1200 calories of Nutella, breads and cookies daily versus 1400 calories of proteins, healthy fats and fiberous carbs, you will lose weight initially on both due to the deficit, BUT the blood sugar spikes and lack of satiety on the first diet means you will not be able to stick with it long enough to lose weight. So eating more calories of the right foods in deficit is better than less calories of the wrong foods.

Save the Nutella etc for a cheat day rather than constantly eating it daily. People overlook the role blood sugar spikes play in maintaining deficits or being able to stick with it.

2 tsp of Nutella is 200 calories so if you have a normal serving on calorie deficit day you leave very little else for actual filling food. Not to mention no ones has just 2 tbsp of Nutella, that shit is like crack. So you down 300 calories of Nutella plus whatever you put it on and boom you are at 400 calories on a non-filling snack leaving you with 1000 or so the entire day.

Eating unlimited calories on Saturday while being strict during the week will not derail your long term goals and will feel much better than sneaking in a lick of nutella on the spoon and ruining the whole day.

I tell you I would toss Audrina's salad in a hearbeat. Not sure what Mischa Barton is doing there...makes it look more scripted no?

More excited for 90210 reboot.... That's right..I said it.
