Perhaps the the Taliban have succeeded in pinning US against each other and bringing down the engine and powers that drive our market-driven economy...Wall Street.

You decide.
 
A neat way to save taxpayers money would be to ringfence Afghanistan and then empty the jails there from the civilized countries. That's about 2.5 million Americans for a start off.
They could indulge their criminal inclinations there unimpeded, assuming they survive the cold, hunger, the Taliban etc.
