Looks like Victor Niederhoffer blew up again

I doubt he blew up. There's no evidence of it and OP is a troll. But we all know he will someday.

Yeah, I thought this news was 3 years early. He usually blows up in years ending in 7, like 1997 and 2007. He also took a big hit in 1987...(the only exception to this rule was 2001)

So far nothing to see here folks, let's clear the court of public opinion....

I am not surprised that you're confused. You're at his teat 24/7 and you didn't know? Octane funded him with 150 or so.

Octane is an individual investor like my brother in law? You should use your gift & powers for good rather than negation all the time---I think you would be happier.

You implied that individual investors were not invested in the train wreck. My brother was invested in Matador via Octane.

Nice thing about TA based methods is they blow up slowly, while RV, mean reversion, short vol and The Bernanke Put tend to leave you hanging when other traders figure out you're leveraged and vulnerable.........

"The two main causes of poverty are liquor and leverage" - W.B.

speaking of blow ups

hearing mining rigs being sold fire sale style on ebay as bitcoiniots flee the burning building.

keep holding ...... to zero.

Oh man. Nothing pass the scrutiny of ET forumers. :D
May be his blowing up patterns are starting to change to a new pattern.

As I said, Victor and his put selling is old news. There are people who do the same but without blowing up, so there IS a smart way to do it.

Here is Karen's record of the last few years with numbers where they were available:

2007: 50% on 100K
2008: ? (probably beat the market)
2009: ? profitable
2010: ? profitable
2011: 53% on 92mm
2012: 30% on 160mm
2013: 27% and 24% on 196mm

Karen has currently just below 200 mil AUM. She is not a champion squash player*, but she frequently adopts abandoned kittens and dogs from the local shelter. She donated a kidney to a 7 year old black little girl and spends Tuesdays with Morrie. Alright, some of these might be hearsay and rather irrelevant to money management, like playing squash.

What isn't irrelevant is that she hasn't blown up in the last 7 years (and the market has been quite volatile), although her strategy is quite similar to Victor's, but as the results show, much superior to it.

*Oh, I just got it on good authority that she does cook with squash and she has a killer recipe....

You implied that individual investors were not invested in the train wreck. My brother was invested in Matador via O.

You are suggesting that firms like the one you mention don't do DD or are well aware of the risks of their chosen managers ? Clearly VN passed the test by folks who allocate much more than both of us have. Therefore, I think the guy deserves respect rather than diversion.

What fund is this? Where is it tracked. Who is this person?

Furthermore, VN has posted a far superior track record over DECADES. How naive are you guys to think that real professional investors would keep investing with VN if this wasn't the case?
