I spoke with a friend who used to run a children's charity in Asia. They deal with a wide range of issues from health & homelessness to hospice care. He has said in the past that lurking predators are particularly attracted to the hospice.
"Pedophiles often have narcissistic and antisocial traits, psychopathy is often high. They lack empathy express no meaningful remorse for their actions."
Sound like anyone? I think what confuses the public* is they associate psychopath with Norman Bates and murder rather than just a pronounced inability to feel empathy. They hear the Trump is very warm and cordial in person, he must be an ok guy if so many people say he is personable? That he self-deals from a charity and routinely stiffed small contractors as a signature business move gets a pass. First impressions in person are powerful things, enough to blind them to think about how many lawsuits this guy reportedly has.
Not all narcissistic semi-psychopaths are pedophiles but...most Trump types would rape their daughters given no risk of punishment. Extreme self-love, the Pharaohs liked a clean bloodline.
*Particularly republicans who have trouble finding empathy for someone else unless they themselves have direct experience of that person's plight. Friend stiffed by health insurance, gay relative etc.

Maybe your friend started the children's charity to be close to the children? No lurking needed and you get praised as a charitable person.
