memorial day special, your only hope is check store by store and see if there is any left.

Check out surplus stores if your town has them. Austin, TX used to have Dell outlet stores. Seattle has the Boeing outlet where one can supposedly pick up a two year old laptop for maybe $300 that was once top of the line.

Check a few of these out:

You should be able to get a deal here. :)
Quote from SethArb:

anyone care to comment on how the media surveys or their own experiences have been with

DELL vs HP vs Toshiba on laptops priced
$500 - $750 ? at these prices its not the money
but the battery power and reliability I care about

I am seeing specials now for similar 15-16 inch monitor models all with 512 DDR or faster ram
running close to 2 GHZ or equivalent

but sometimes read of bad experiences consumers have had with each of the above names

should I just choose one vendor and wing it ?

maybe I should pay $1000 - $1500 for an APPLE
macbook
that in theory can "boot" to windows now with its
"Intel Inside"

:p

what brand HP ?

my post was not asking what to buy

but how reliable and solid the current

name brand PC notebooks are in terms

of customer service and runtime vs downtime

since they all seem to be offering $400-1000

laptops now with 14-15 1/2 inch screens

running windows XP

Yes it is an HP 14 inch
And since i will be using it for trading i thought i might just get a good one
It has been a while and one day i was checking it wtf i ordered it
I think 2.0gh 512 MB should be good enough for trading and opening a few tick charts and future charts
And i will be using Verizon DSL which i think is decent enough
