Almost no real prop firm trades stocks. The ones that do are in the market maker space trading options. And there are several of them.

If you are willing to move to NYC or Chicago there are some very good well capitalized proprietary trading firms to consider. These follow the prop futures business model in which only the firm's capital is at risk. This is a requirement for CME registered electronic trading firms.

Is prop trading is illegal ?

No. Prop trading is not illegal. There are many prop trading firms in NY, Chicago, Etc.
