Looking for a new, GOOD, trading computer for not too much $$$$?

Dell Outlet is listing ONE Precision T3500, for $709 (about $400 less than the parts if you were to BIY)...

I'd buy this if I were in the market for a new one. In fact I bought one of these 2 months ago for wifey for $629, but it had only 4G RAM and 250G HDD. This is a good machine at a good price.

Tarry not. Good deals on Outlet usually don't last long.

Lots of the ones on Dell Outlet are not "used" at all. There are about half dozen reasons computers end up on Outlet... and all Precisions carry the same, full 3-year warranty as a new one.

If you want to spend a bit more for more horsepower, there is one with a W3565 CPU for $889.
 
I am ready for a new pc too, but just curious, if Intel Xeon Processor W3530 is better than the new i7 2600K? Looks like i7 is much faster after overclock. What is the advantage of Precision Workstation?

i7-2600K is faster, no doubt.

The advantages of this Precision....

1. Server class components... or at least, supposedly so. i7-2600 is running on "consumer/gamer grade" components. Might not make a practical difference, however. Then again....

2. Mature, X58 mobo... i7-2600 runs on P/H67 and Z68 chipset. Neither of which is as "feature rich" nor as mature as X58.

3. Price. (If you're looking at a computer for gaming, you'd logically choose the i7-2600 on a P67 or Z68 mobo. With a good gaming video card, you're likely talking $1,200-ish or more.)

Both the Xeon W3530 and i7-2600K are waaayyy more horsepower than is NECESSARY for trading.

I never meant to infer the T3500 was "best and fastest".. only that it's a very good machine, plenty powerful enough for trading, and at a good price... and with X58 mobo, you could run 4 dualhead video cards... 2, x16 and 2, x1.

I don't know about that. The 295 is plenty good enough for trading, viewing movies, general computing. Its Passmark score is only about 210. (GTX 580 is 3894 Passmark.)

The 295's display quality is rated "Best in Class" by Display Mate. I'm sure it's competent to display everything, though likely not as quickly as video cards with more grunt.
