Long term Trader versus Intraday Trader which is profitable?

Quote from Mad_Alfred:

In general, to me, it is a question of capital. If you have $15k in capital and even if you are the next coming of Warren Buffet or whatever - able to earn like 30% a year - you will be hard pressed to turn that into meaningful money.

Only thing you need is patience. 30% over 30 years on 15k is still a nice amount of money.

DAX

you highlight the major challenge to day tradeing. Emotion. Controlling emotion is the key. Those who can are the successful 5% who make a living at it. Those who can't will make huge compounded mistakes.

I traded professionally for years using discression and found that i would have long streaks of small success followed by short term periods or large loss whihc reduced my overall profitability.

10 steps up then 1 large jump of 8 steps down.

i put most of my faith these days into a mechanical systematic approach. the best traders int he world are robots. i find it too hard to do this on a discretinary basis but a compter has no feelings. this may be your answer
