Lol @ Amd

Because the bad news is priced in... and wasn't as bad as some people expected.

The world's chips are sold between Intel and AMD... Intel's numbers are a predictor's of AMD's also. What one missed, the other got. Plus AMD owns ATi, which they're still digesting.

If Barcelona is any good, Intel may have a problem, especially with AMD's new ability to incorporate cost savings and tandem development of CPU and graphics now ... something a lot of people count on. It was always a given that AMD would recover, then exceed.

You are no longer talking about just AMD, as it was just a year ago. You are talking about 25% of the world's chip market, and 60% of the world's graphics market now in 1, hopefully not bloated, company. It was only a matter of when and by how much it would recover.

I didn't think it was possible it would go below $10, and it never even went below $12. But with a shortage of good news for the sector, I don't think it's going to quadruple just yet. But it will.

you nailed it on the head..(and saved me from typing that :)

...and to think Fortrend Securities LLC had this dog as a "buy" last year in January in their Relative Value Model (Negative Value Model?) when the stock was trading at $40.

AMD is down today. Not a good sign on such an up day.

I am waiting for this to drop more.

I hate Intel vehemently, but shouldn't let my emotions affect my trading.

The stock went up because it would be impossible for AMD to be in any deeper **** than it is in now so therefore the only direction to go is up.

Don't count on that. They can guide even further down. INTC can take more market share. NVDA can take ATI market share. 5.3 Billion in Debt currenty. Liquidation value is1.2 Billion. Reorganization Value is 2.3 million.

Not saying it will, but it is very possible it can go much lower.

hi folks,

have not traded stock or options in a while, but since today was quiet on the gbp/usd i decided to nose around a bit.

saw where amd had a nice small gap up this am, and looks like it has had 4 days of upward thrust. it also looks like it has put in a double bottom & 1,2,3

did some research over @ schaeffers and noticed that amd recently completed a $2.2 billion bond offering. also discovered they say that the job cuts were not in engineering mostly in mgmt, etc. that their new quad server chip should be ready for release by summer

now here is my question... i was thinking of some itm calls with a little time, but realized that oe should be this friday and there might be a pull back on monday

what do you think of my intention to buy itm calls? should i buy them now or wait until monday? or???

Buying calls is definately not a bad play. AMD releasing their quad-core processor gives them a very good opportunity for a big jump in share price -- if their processor outperforms intel's.
