well it also depends on what your state defines as doing business. If you are trading your own account you are not conducting any commerce in your state really by most definitions(i.e. not selling a product or service to citizens of the state or holding yourself out as a business within the state).

Where you trade is where you conduct business, since that's where your business is located, unless you can demonstrate you trade the majority of time in another state. I just decided to take the safe route for now in inc. in my home state. CO taxes are 4.7%, so it's not exorbitant.
