Johannes Leak’s commentary prompted an intense reaction, including ridiculous accusations the cartoon was motivated by racism or was intended to promote racism.

The words “little black and brown girls” belong to Joe Biden, not Johannes, and were uttered by the presidential candidate when he named Kamala Harris as his running mate on Thursday; he repeated them in a tweet soon after.

As many commentators in the US have noted, Biden is accused of using racial identity as a political weapon, and that is exactly the point Johannes was making in the cartoon, using Biden’s language.

The intention of Johannes’s commentary was to ridicule identity politics and demean racism, not perpetuate it.

The Australian deplores racism in all its guises, as does Johannes.

Lots of truth in it.

It pokes at Joe as being just the cardboard cut-out candidate bumbling around trying to be woke while fucking it up.

There is a racial dimension to Joe's whole presidency. He is an old white dem plantation owner, emblematic of a lefty tradition that has held people of color in secondary, supporting roles for decades and decades. Kamala is properly portrayed as just the supporting domestic help brought in to keep the massah organized and looking good. Which is precisely what the Biden-Harris ticket is.

There is not a single dem out there who is not thinking "WTF, Why is Joe the candidate and not Kamala?" That's what racism and sexism looks like. Brought to you by the DNC and its local plantation franchises.

Kamala complained loudly and viciously about Joe being racist and supporting a criminal justice system that kept blacks locked up, and about his sexual assaults of women as plantation owners often do. Now she goes to work in the massah's house and she just be looking the other way, because, hey, that's what you do if you are black and the massah be givin you a chance to work in the Big House. Hush you mouf.

Joe is the quintessential product of the DC good ole boy's club.

He just smiled and back-slapped his way through life in the chambers of DC for 50 years.

But none of his supporters can name a frigging thing he has ever accomplished. Partially because some of the things he did accomplish are not considered woke these days so they are downplayed by the media.

He is an odd duck indeed to be heading up the dem ticket at this time in history. As with the republicans in 2016 there is a deep, deep visceral need and wish for an outsider in the dem party, yet they have settled for the lowest common denominator who represents the DC Ole Boys Club. Before the primary season even began, ALL of the dems joined hands and swore in blood that this was the time for a woman and preferably a person of color. So they went through 30 candidates and Joe ended out being the woman and person of color they wanted.
