Listen carefully ladies

Quote from RCG Trader:

Maybe it is I who needs the education. Hannity often calls himself a "Reagan conservative". What does he mean by that?

What he probably means is someone who is a fiscal conservative. They believe in small government, less taxes and a strong military. But not an imperial military. They are not neo-cons and they also support a strong dollar policy. Reagan conservatives are not into nation building. Reagan conservatives also generally typify the term american exceptionalism and are generally very patriotic. His administration gave birth to what became known as Reagan democrats or the blue dogs as they are now called. FYI Reagan was a former democrat in CA.

You know Reagan read Ayn Rand and spent much of his life reading and studying Hayek yet he never really became a libertarian. He had a hard time shaking his democrat roots. Even today most people are in agreement that he almost qualifies as a democrat compared with modern day conservatives. A good way to describe Reagan is a democrat that one night before bed read some Hayek and Rand and woke up in the morning as a Reagan conservative.

That then reinforces my point. The GOP needs to reel it's conservative wing in. But, why would Rush and Hannity, the mouthpieces of the modern conservatives hold Reagan as the ultimate icon, but then be to the right of him?

I'll tell you. Reagan "executed" the conservative ideology with precision. In other words, he was competent. There are many sloppy and incompetent conservatives out there. They talk the talk but on 3rd down and long they always get picked off. It's not that Rush and Hannity liked Reagan because he was sooooooo conservative but because of his ability to execute.

Look at Obama. For all practical purposes he is a pretty left wing democrat. However he cannot execute his policies well at all much to the ire of the hard core left and the moveon.org crowd. He talks tough then sells out to big business. He talks like a liberal then starts a war. He cannot execute his policies.

Both the left and the right yearn for someone who can actually execute and implement the very things they believe in. Everyone on the campaign trail can talk like a liberal or a conservative then they get elected and do nothing. Case in point Bush and Obama.

Reagan though actually delivered the goods and that is why he gets held up on a pedestal and used as an example over and over again.

Quote from RCG Trader:

I already laid it out for AAA earlier in the years. Obama wins a second term. Here's why.

The pub candidates are a motley crew. Their best guy is Romney, and the GOP will wind up getting behind him, as they fear the unknown, which would be the Tea Party wing of the GOP. But Romney care is going to be a problem for him. Their next best bet is Bachmann, but women don't like women candidates, so they will pull a Hillary on her if they must and sink her.

After that, it's downhill fast.

Newt has already pissed off the GOP and he hasn't been out there a week yet.

Pawlenty? Who is that?

Herman Cain, Adam West, well let just say I don't think they can carry the South.

So it's Romney. That's if the GOP right does not do too much damage to him.

Nice call RCG ,a year and a half in advance :)

Quote from AK Forty Seven:

Huge differences between GHB,Carter and Ford

GHB had a conservative running 3rd party as well as an extremely charismatic opponent

Carter didn't have the political strengths of Obama,Obama doesn't have the baggage Carter had and republicans had a strong republican candidate

Ford was never elected the first time and probably would have never been elected

Umemployment can be at 10 % and Obama still wins against the current GOP Jokes

Nice call AK :D :D :D

Quote from AK Forty Seven:

Perot also ran in in 1996 when unemployment wasn't at 7.5 % dumbass

It makes no difference at all why he ran, unless Obama has a left leaning 3rd party candidate and a strong republican opponent like Clinton comparing Bush 1 to Obama is no comparison

Unemployment will be over 7.5% in 2012 and Obama will still be re elected.I'll bump this thread on election night to remind you what a stupid fuck you are

:D :D :D

Quote from Maverick74:

RCG, I'm going to give you a pass for now and assume you are not a student of political history because if you were, you would know that no incumbent has ever won re-election with unemployment over 8% give or take a few ticks. It's very simple, that number is going to determine the election. If it gets back down to the 7's, Obama should win no matter who the right puts up there. If it's over 8%, there is not a snowball's chance in hell Obama wins. I'm a trader RCG, I go with the numbers.

BTW, Romney has no chance in the primary. The list you gave is very off. I take it you don't watch a lot of news shows. So I'll do you a favor, the top two guys right now are Huntsman and Daniels. You mentioned neither. That's OK. I'm a nice guy, I'll give you another pass. Just write that down. We'll revisit this thread 6 months from now. [/B]

somebody needs to study political history but it isnt RCG

Quote from AK Forty Seven:

So it seems you cant figure out why Obama has always had a 40-45 % job approval rating, currently is favored by all odds maker to win re election, why many moderately strong candidates like Christie,Huck ,Jeb etc don't want to run against him,why no strong democrats want to mount a primary challenge, why Obamas personal favorability ratings are 70-80 % etc.OK then:cool:

:D :D :D
