lightspeed canceled shorts on spy and qqq

I tried to short the spy friday 12, and lightspeed wasn't allowing any short or I could of if willing to pay an extra 19 bucks per trade
what is up with that. Did other brokers suspend shorting spy and the Q's on friday? Didn't read anyting on the financial news about an acrossed the borad suspension so thinking might of just been lightspeed. Anyone experience this with other broker's?

wtf?

Can you just buy SH instead. It's inverse SPY and for some purpsoes works like shorting it (except without margin).

More...

The clearing firm(penson) put them on the threshold list. That means someone(who clears penson) failed to deliver and so it got on that list. It usually takes 3 trading days to get off the threshold list. This really nothing and happens all the time. As others have pointed out there are easy ways to get around this.
