I would like to expand on one of my favorites.

You get what you want out the markets. by seykota in market wizards.

That is my fav market quote ever. Actually the only one that really matters.

"Win or lose, everybody gets what they want out of the market. Some people seem to like to lose, so they win by losing money. "

99% of people who attempt trading, thats who. Trading is easy. Knowing what you REALLY want in life is terribly difficult. People trade for many reasons. Most think they want to make money. They dont want to make money, or they would.

I dont need to ask anyone. I am surrounded daily by winning and losing traders. Have been for nearly a decade.

Yup.

They either dont want to put in the work or dont want to confront emotional baggage. So they lose. Humans have the ability to change or at least approach those conditions but most do not. Winning traders not only approach those conditions they absorb themselves in finding out the "whys and hows".

that's different than "wanting" to lose. they want to win but won't put the work in.

If you have the ability to do something, but choose not too you must want the result that that choice brings.
