Life span of a Desktop PC

.
i'm trying to go totally Silent, no fans, from now on
[will have to run SSDs only, i guess]

just bought a Chrome book, as a 2nd backup computer,
but will only run the TWS browser based, which i haven't tried yet

still have a desktop as the main

This is an interesting point, wouldn't it be just awesome to no longer have to rely on fans anymore? Or at least fewer of them in the case to cause annoying noise issues?

Problem is 2 TB SSD drive is 650-800 bucks right now, so probably years away in availability

Annoying fan noise issues?

What year would that be, pre-1990's?

:)

I always thought capacitor life was the limiting factor on PC life (but recap boards possible,

I understood 3 year life for fluid capacitors and 7 years for polymer/Aluminium? That said I have 20 year old electrical stuff still working

My PC for example is like 11 years old already but this year I will definitely will upgrade it no matter what. How do you plan to go with that ? It do not support anything like SSE 4.2 or Vulkan API or something like SSD not present and so on and so on.
