Life in Venezuela

The military should not be performing civilian services, but what would you expect from a failed, socialist banana republic?

Why don't they police the streets and help reduce the crime rate?
%%
Good question; those socialists, strangely, seem to be against police doing normal work.US sociallists are almost as bad.Crazy senator socialist Sanders bragged about his gov giving away snow blowers.LOL

I thought asset seizures had ended.
Stuff like this is not going to encourage businesses, foreign or domestic; to invest in the country.

Venezuela's government said Monday that it will seize a factory belonging to Kimberly-ClarkCorp. after the U.S. personal care giant said it was no longer possible to manufacture in this crisis-wracked South American nation.

Labor Minister Owaldo Vera said the socialist government was taking the action at the request of the 971 workers who have occupied the factory that the company decided to shutter in central Aragua state.

Kimberley-Clark announced on Saturday that it was suspending production in Venezuelabecause of a lack of primary materials, currency trouble and soaring inflation. The company made a number of hard-to-find staples in Venezuela such as diapers and face tissues.

I'm more surprised to hear there are any assets left to seize.

Yeah, I just saw this.
They are in charge of all the major ports and the distribution of food and medicine.

I guess Maduro is sensing an overthrow and a threat to his life. So he put his military cronies in charge of critical areas.

If you control the money supply and oil you control nations........check! He's got that done.
If you control the food supply you control people.............check! He's got that one covered.

I'm sure these changes will be dramatically successful. After all, didn't it work for the USSR, the Warsaw Pact, Vietnam, Cuba and Red China?

I agree, don't think he has much time left. It will be a sad day in red America when he is overthrown though, no more dire warnings about how we're well on our way to becoming Venezuela because of X policy they don't like. I wonder who the next monster under the bed will be?

I agree with you, but he has one big problem. There too little food to control, and nobody left to take it from.

The monster under the bed turned out to be very real for a lot of Venezuelans.
