Anyone else reminded of the Biblical Pharisees? Like the current priest guild (Lawyers/Politicians), the Pharisees used Biblical law and edicts to crush and ensnare the masses. Law was turned into a weapon of oppression instead of it's intended use; a reasonable code of moral conduct.
I believe the system is designed this way for a couple reasons. The first is to ensnare and trap the masses by the sheer volume of law nobody can hope to comply with. Therefore, everyone is guilty. Makes us all beholden to the State, which is the philosophy of servitude and ownership both the political right and left adhere too. The second is that politicians are lawyers and love passing more law because it justifies and necessitates their guilds continued importance. Burn down more buildings to keep fire fighters in a job etc.
When we look for outrage in the world, there's no shortage of it. The problem is this corruption is becoming so prevalent and commonplace at home, in all manner of Government and the private sector, that it threatens the very foundation of our capitalist Republic. We all know that, but it's actually happening.
