Video Shows Officer Michael Slager Shooting Unarmed Black Man In The Back In South Carolina

A white South Carolina police officer was arrested Tuesday after video showed him fatally shooting a fleeing, unarmed black man in the back.

North Charleston Police Officer Michael T. Slager, 33, can be seen shooting 50-year-old Walter Scott after a confrontation on Saturday, according to The Post and Courier. Slager chases Scott and shoots at him eight times in the video recorded by a passerby and obtained by The New York Times.

Scott was later pronounced dead.

The graphic video raises questions about Slager's original assertion that he used his gun because he felt endangered.

The confrontation started when Slager had reportedly pulled over Scott because of a broken taillight. It escalated into a foot chase as Scott allegedly fled because there were family court-issued warrants for his arrest. Slager pursued Scott into a grassy lot and claimed that he fired his Taser to subdue him.

Moments later, Slager reported on his radio, “Shots fired and the subject is down. He took my Taser,” according to the Times

Earlier this week, an attorney for Slager said the cop felt threatened after Scott tried to overpower him and take his Taser. Today that attorney told The Post and Courier that he's "no longer involved" in the case.

But first images in the video are of Slager shooting at Scott as he runs away from him. It also appears that Slager drops the Taser near Scott after he was gunned down, according to The New York Times

Cop in N.C. will be acquitted and the left knows it. It's another Zimmerman type case. It's not murder, it's manslaughter. Over charging results in acquittal. Riots and civil unrest will follow, which is exactly what the left wants. Leads one to believe that the civil unrest is more important than justice where leftists are concerned.

The video is clear, the cop is a murderer, a man who couldn't control his racist impulses in the moment. The prejudice of the early posts suddenly gets more uncomfortable when the actual video comes out. Suddenly, making this story yet another excuse to push your political agenda gets instantly less tasteful. Only the most sociopathic of your ilk would still be comfortable with the idea that a man could be gunned down in the back simply because his tail light was out. In a fair world, some of the posters on here would be identified and made to own up to their racist commentary on this site. There are clues to why this cop is who he is when one sees he lives in a society that has subcultures with the attitudes expressed by some on here.

Some of these guys seem to have no moral compass, and they stepped into this very quickly.
There are more and more cases now where internet commentators that have gotten out of hand have been publicly identified and paid some sort of price for their words online. I doubt many employers would be comfortable employing anyone who makes openly racist comments on an internet site. The thing is, some of these guys don't seem to even understand it's racist and disgusting, and only a public unveiling of their words would alert them to why their words are socially unacceptable in the mainstream.

Hey dopey, my comments were to the OP, not the video (they are two separate and different events). The video (and the event that took place in SC) is horrible and tragic.

The original post, however, took place in Chicago where a kid was shot in the process of stealing a handgun.

I know, it's a long shot to expect you to actually check your facts before spouting off like a fucking idiot.
