Letterman: I Don't Want A President Who Lies

DAVID LETTERMAN, HOST: Here’s what upset me last night, this playing fast and loose with facts. And the President Obama cites the op-ed piece that Romney wrote about Detroit, “Let them go bankrupt, let them go bankrupt,” and last night he brings it up again. “Oh, no, Governor, you said let them go bankrupt, blah blah blah, let them go bankrupt.” And Mitt said, “No, no, check the thing, check the thing, check the thing.”

Now, I don’t care whether you’re Republican or Democrat, you want your president to be telling the truth; you want the contender to be lying. And so what we found out today or soon thereafter that, in fact, the President Obama was not telling the truth about what was excerpted from that op-ed piece. I felt discouraged.

RACHEL MADDOW: Because the “Let Detroit go bankrupt” headline you feel like was inappropriate?

LETTERMAN: Well, the fact the President is invoking it and swearing that he was right and that Romney was wrong and I thought, well, he’s the president of course he’s right. Well, it turned out no, he was taking liberties with that.

Yoou'd think people would get used to it by now. There's going to be a big problem when Obama gets re-elected and there won't be anything anyone can do about it.

That is an astonishing statement for David Letterman though. He has been so completely biased towards the left that it is rather surreal seeing him take any kind of considered position.

I mean, I haven't watched his show since the early 80s so he is hardly relevant in my life but I have seen clips of his statements about George Bush and Dick Cheney etc and think the man is a leftist twat.
 
But, how can Letterman just now be figuring out that Obama lies? If the statement, "You can tell he is lying because his lips are moving", applies to anyone it is Obama.

Guys like letterman though, to be honest, they are so far removed from reality its comical. I mean, they all live on another planet.

After all these years I have been carrying water for these assholes.
That kenyan SOB comes on my show and lies to my face and make me look like a tool everytime that clip is mentioned or repeated. Does he know who I am. I am David Letterman...

But of course he does not want to look like the spoiled child he is so he goes with a little mis direction and blames it on the debate.

He will then decide if his tantrum as done enough damage.
