Canât figure out why people are so enamored about my career path, but here is the rundown. Graduated from college in 1992 and assisted in a start-up company that manufactured small farm tractors. Left there In 1994 to assist in the start-up of a steel mini-mill that produced billets. Loved it, the most fascinating manufacturing process on earth. In 1997, not wanted to work for anyone else, I had the idea that people may eventually prefer steel framing in their homes instead of wood. Wanted to start a manufacturing facility that produced steel framing, but there was little demand at that time. In late 1997, I decided that if no builders wanted to build with steel, I would do it myself. Forgot about the manufacturing facility, and started a building company. Didn't know how to build a home myself, and I really didn't care (still don't). I had people who know how to do that, I concentrated on my company. Canât say it has been smooth sailing from the get go, but we have made our share of profits. We have homes in 24 countries, and China is our biggest foreign market. Yes, this market has nearly killed us. We have people wanting to build but canât sell their home, people who years ago that could qualify for a mortgage but canât now, and speculators who are scared. Most of my laborers went back to Brazil, and I canât blame them, there appears to be work there. Currently we have a few large commercial projects, one in Mt. Crested Butte, Colorado, one in Reno, Nevada, and ones in China, Thailand and Guatemala. Due to the market conditions the developed over the past few years, which resulted in a decline in home sales but about 60% from our peak, I am mentally exhausted. Threw my cell phone away a few months ago once I got all the vendors paid. Would cringe every time the phone rang. Sales seem to be picking up, but I am on the outside now. I had enough and letting other people take it from here. I enjoy gambling, been a professional gambler for about ten years. Got into trading from a fellow gambler. I am successful at trading the ES, and pretty much do it pass my time. Go to the office these days just to get out of the house. There you go.
