Lets talk drummers

Quote from jzlucas:

Nice call on Omar Hakim, bronks. Excellent drummer. The guy is a metronome w/ great chops.
I think he played with Sting for a while.

Oops, I just realized I said Dale Bozzio instead of Terry. Must of been thinking about her boobs at the time of writing.

Jeff Porcaro's shuffle on "Rosanna" is a thing of beauty. Can't tell you how many cumulated days of my life I spent on learning that shuffle. I can play it, but can't get it to groove right.

Stephen Perkins on "Stop" by Janes Addiction

The drummer for Primus

I'd vote for Peart, for lyrics as much as his drumming hands down. Carl Palmer (ELP, Asia) is one of the greatest of all time. I would also throw Tony Thompson (mainly studio work) of Power Station in also but I read he passed away.

Quote from Pekelo:

I think he was the one I am talking about:

His name is Mike Mangini and I am not a drummer expert, but people on Youtube say his one handed drumroll is faster than most people's two-handed...

P.S.: Again, no links in a thread about music... :(

Wow! Unreal. That's all I have to say about this guy.

* On a side note, when are they gonna start having streaming video that doesn't look like it's being transmitted from outer space? Sound included. I mean WTF, how hard can that be with todays technology? Also, they broadcast these images from laptops or whatever from Iraq on CNN and FOX and they're barely distinguishable. The only thing that comes across clear on the web is porn... from what I hear.
