As you know, gas prices are currently at an all-time high (not adjusted for inflation, though -- where gas once cost around $3.00 a gallon in the early 80's).
Many europeon countries pay x2, x3 -- even four times or more what we pay for our gasoline, so let's keep that in perspective.
However, here are some ideas I came up with that will really make a difference if you take the time to follow them.
1. Make sure your tires are properly inflated.
If your tires are underinflated, you could be wasting a few percent in MPG -- which translates to 5 to 10 cents a gallon right now.
2. Don't gun your engine!
Start off a little slower at intersections -- again, another percent or so over the long run.
3. If you have A/C, keep your windows closed.
Driving around with your windows open creates more drag and causes your engine to work harder -- again, another few percent given back to you.
4. Carpool if possible!
5. Trade in your Escalade or Corvette for a Honda Civic -- if you can afford it, buy a Civic for your normal transportation and only drive your Escalade when you are pimpin'.
