Lesson learned: Importance of trading Out vs in charts

@KCalhoun Any good examples? I think I found an example of what you mean, but just wanted to confirm. Like this?

At the moment I don't have a day trade strategy that uses buy stops, but this seems like a good place to explore. Thanks!

EDIT: AMC today too.

AMC today is a great example, minor gap above prior days high, it was our top call in my live chatroom today :D

It seems to be having a great 2021:

But I'm having trouble getting it to work over time:

I did:
---
Universe: Russell 3000
Price Filter: $10-45
Volume Filter: MA(V,50) > 350000

Entry conditions:
1. LinRegSlope(C,2) > 0.50
2. ROC(C,5) > 0

Rank: 100 + ROC(C,5)

Buy Stop Limit at Ref(H,-1) + 0.75

40 max positions x 10% each

Exit:
Market on Close
---

Any suggestions? Volatility filters? Stop losses?

Until he answers;
i would sure make i found out why i lost so much in2019,2020,.[ I did better in 2019,2020/2021 by trading spxl smaller = spy, qld, qqq larger than spxl, myself.
2008 is to far away to really count it this year + you beat the SPY benchmark anyway..............................................................................................
BUT any close below 200dma like spy did in 2008 is a whole different\bear market
