lesson in economics that even a simple minded right winger can understand

Quote from CaptainObvious:

OK, think of it this way. Take the dot.com bubble. What were people investing in? Was there a actual company? No. There was an idea for a company, and a web page. The curtain got pulled back revealing nothing...bubble bursts and all the money goes bye-bye. Housing bubble, same thing. Why were all those house's built? Actual demand? No, it was paper pushing paper. None of it was real. Again, curtain pulled back reveals nothing, money gone again. How many times can we keep pretending there's a product when all there is is paper? We produce nothing of substance anymore. It's all made somewhere else. Our economy pushes paper and nothing else. That can only last so long.
demand again. if there were sufficient demand for that dot.coms product it would not have folded.

Quote from Free Thinker:

thats silly. who wouldnt want fresh carrots if they could afford them?

did the thought ever occur to you or the Krugman crowd that if you allowed the price of carrots to come down there would be ample demand?

The reason people cant afford the carrots is because they cost too much, because all you guys think you can inflate the price of carrots enough to make people want to buy again.

That's the problem. Most of them never had a product to begin with. All they had was a idea. They sold the sizzle, but never had any intention of delivering a steak, so when it came time to produce a steak there was no meat. All those employed in that fantasy company lost their jobs. The hustlers promoting the scam make lot's of money, but most people just have to move on to the next job they can find. Problem is, the next job is a smoke and mirror deal as well.
What we need is another dot.com pretend business to employ all those unemployed from the last pretend business folding up.

yea but you are way off subject here.

Quote from Free Thinker:

robert has calculated that it will cost him less to let them rot in the ground than to spend additional money harvesting, shipping and marketing them since he cant sell them because his customers dont have the money to buy them.
is it really that hard to understand? dont they teach anything like this in school anymore?

I just said, it will cost him nothing to have Kofi harvest and take a few to eat before they rot. It's simple and free risk reduction in case customers suddenly get money. In which event Robert would STILL not have harvest cash as he would ALSO still have no income according to your story. You didn't consider that part did you?

I said nothing about shipping or storing.

Do schools teach thinking anymore?

Quote from Free Thinker:

its just an example. it doesnt matter what the producrt or servise is the economic principles are the same. no demand no need for employees.

Are you kidding me? you actually think that the economics of a perishable item is the same as the economics of information and services?

You have have absolutely no business talking about economics, go back to your favorite topic- bashing christians

lol. you obviously havent farmed. or studied economics much.

carrots are perishable they have to be sold within a few days. robert knows the customers will not suddenlt get money because the republicans just killed the food stamp program killing all demand. there is that word that keep popping up. DEMAND. without it robert has no incentive to hire or harvest.
