Legislation on gun "silencers"?

I've never had any first-hand exposure to "silencers"/suppressors.

In the movies they make it look like a silencer muffles the sound to be like a "puff of wind".

I've seen youtube videos where a .22 seem significantly quieter with a suppressor vs. without. Would subsonic rounds be suppressed to be effectively, "quiet"?

Isn't the real truth that a suppressor reduces the sound from like 160dB to about 130dB? That's still way too loud to use without hearing protection.... so a suppressor shouldn't be considered a "silencer" at all? Is Hellary just showing her big-mouth "I've got a strong opinion, but I really don't know shit" ignorance once again?

What's the real story? I'm sure Tsing Tao knows... perhaps he'll chime in.
