Legal immigrants to be barred from citizenship

So if legal immigrants use aid programs, they could be barred from citizenship? Lot of this depends on a good many things, like whether they indeed paid taxes, etc. But when you bring someone over from another country for immigration, it explicitly asks whether they have financial support from you before accepting them. This isn't a new thing. I remember looking at bringing my mother-in-law over back during GWB.

This is different. Permanent residents who are looking to become citizens....I don't see any exceptions about the way they became residents.

I don't see it holding up in court if it ever gets implemented and seems more of a scare tactic to keep them from voting Democrat

Don't know if it will hold up or not. I doubt it would either. But becoming a permanent resident has always had requirements on working and paying taxes. I think that's where this was going.

It won't hold up in court if a president tries to implement it through the executive order because a president lacks the constitutional authority to do it alone. Otherwise, it is completely and totally under the control of Congress.

That is the dilemma that dems are in. They want to argue that the president can do some of this stuff alone but if the court affirms that kind of power for a president (not gonna happen) then they have to be prepared to deal with what trump will do with that kind of power. Might want to think that through a bit. I dont mean the Canadians/Richter. I mean the Americans.

This is not to say that Trump is out of bounds in advocating what he wants in negotiation with Congress or in return for signing or not vetoing something. He still has a role in the legislative process aside from the whole executive order scenario.

There are efforts to put a cap on legal immigration is what it is. With amnesties for DACA and other illegals, one should expect that the annual limits of immigrants accepted into the US will rise. Right now, it is about 1,000,000 each year. This is not sustainable if you give more and more amnesties! That is why I am against DACA and chain migration! Got this on Wikipedia which is information on immigration including the yearly limits.
