He is also possibly facing criminal investigation by the DOJ for the Julie Swetnick debacle.
Any time you have a woman with both sides of her face bruised and swollen - and your defense is “she hit me first”... he’s admitting he beat her. She had called the police prior to going over to his apartment to retrieve her possessions to say that she feared a violent reaction from him. Apartment Security was involved. Felony Battery is a serious offense and I would expect LAPD had good cause. $50K bail is steep - the judge might have felt the circumstances surrounding the charges were substantial.
IMHO, this is quite fortuitous for the Democrats. It was widely reported that Democrat lawmakers were privately furious with him mucking up the Kavanaugh hearings. Now he’s out of the way for more serious and deserving candidates.
