Learning When Not To Trade

Quote from bobcathy1:

Yes, today I am paper trading. But I might jump in. I would have made 10 points on ES already.
:(

Yeah, me too...whenever I paper trade (or more accurately just say "Oh, I would have done that!").

Paper trade = Head trade = no reality. Don't dwell on it.

Weather's not even nice in Palm Beach...how is it in the Keys today? (Guess that's the real reason I am here)

Quote from rs7:

Another great time not to trade (if not previously mentioned) is, IMO times like right now.

Divergent markets. Dow down, Nasdaq up. (and to make it worse, S&P unchanged).

These are, to me, the worst possible set of circumstances to trade. Better to do just about anything else than to attempt to daytrade. Add in weak volume...well, as bad as it gets.

This is when it really pays to be in Florida. Why I am at my desk is a mystery even to me. Going back and forth between Freecell and ET.

axeman....
chance and probability are two separate things.

You have a chance of being killed by a meteor.
You have a 99% probability of it never happening.

When we use indicators trading, we skew the probability our way.

If you're making a distinction between the two, you stated your proposition in terms of probability.

I'm sure you are right. But they got this policy about loading games....they are paranoid about polluting the network, or whatever. Ain't my machine, ain't my network. I just work here.

Someone got fired for bringing in a disc with a pornographic cartoon on it and sent it interoffice email. They know all and see all.
I work for Big Brother (with no Janice).

So we had to wait for 2002 to get involved in 1942? Hmmmm.

Yeah, that too!!!

But, about 3 weeks ago, I heard the line on you at the Mirage was like 900-1.

So I placed a hedge bet and made out like a bandit. Now I gotta fly out there and collect.

Peace, and congrats!!
