Well you've certainly identified a BIG problem, we can both agree. Too much money in politics. And the Court hasn't been anything but unhelpful in that regard. There are a couple of proposed solutions to the problem but the ones involving uniform, public, campaign financing, once a person qualifies, are not popular with what would be incumbents. The reason is that these proposals all would put, because it's public financing, incumbents on the same playing field as challengers. Incumbents enjoy having the field tilted against challengers, and they'd just as soon keep it tilted that way.

One end run possibility is a State initiated Constitution Amendment, other making illegal all private contributions to campaigns of money or resources, other than one's personal time, and including a candidates own money* illegal, and specifying that a uniform amount be allotted by Congress to all qualified candidates. That might squeak by in States. You initiate the effort And I'll contribute a few bucks. Let's get going on this. We'll call it the Tao Amendment and you'll be a national hero.

*Putting it into the Constitution is the only way to surmount the First Amendment problem with this. Such an amendment would supercede the First, it would prevail in this one specified regard.
