Omicron causes
reinfections in those that had recovered from a prior Covid infection of a different Variant of Concern as in it has the ability to reinfect those that had Natural Immunity.
Omicron causes
breakthrough infections of those that are fully vaccinated for several months as their vaccine immunity has weakened (wane).

The
current threat remains the Delta Variant because it in fact has been causing increasing hospitalization, ICU admissions, and Deaths among those not vaccinated in most states of the United States.
Can Omicron become a lethal threat like Delta Variant of Concern that's causing most of the hospitalization ?
Yes but only if Omicron
mutates again into something more pathogenic...essentially giving rise to a new Variant of Concern.
With the above data in real world, the most important data is still being researched and will be released soon. Hopefully, its good news.
Until then, wear your face mask indoors, wear it properly (not under your nose) and have a remaining good year while everybody else freaks about their Natural Immunity not working or their Full Vaccination not working...its just
mild symptoms for most because the
biggest threat (more pathogenic) is the Delta Variant for those
not vaccinated here in North America.
