Romney lost the debate and probably his chance to be president. He played it safe when what we wanted to see was bold and brave. His performance was a perfect example of everything that's wrong with this country. We are a nation that has forgotten how to win. Can't close the deal. You play not to lose, you lose. Congrats Mitt, you finished second. Maybe we can get him a trophy for most improved candidate.

I probably should elaborate a little more.
It is hard to beat the President on Foreign Policy knowledge when the President has all the information tied to his life, and all of the intelligence flowing into his person. What Romney chose to do, instead, is go for the stalemate on the foreign policy stuff, with the intent of driving home what more people thing to be the pivotal issue in the election - the economy.
Let us not forget that a 2008 Senator Obama wasn't all that well versed in foreign policy back then, and really only had to show up to work to get applause after the warmongering that Bush put forth. Obama learned what he has now from on-the-job training. It's just a shame he didn't do so on the domestic front.
If you click the above link and watch the undecided voters in the focus group, you'll note that essentially all of them voted for Obama in the last round, yet all of them (save one or two) now note that the economy is the number one issue. They all admit Obama won the debate, and that he has more information on the foreign policy side of the equation, but they also realize, and agree with Mitt that, to strengthen ourselves in the world, we need to fix the economy.
And out of the two candidates on stage last night, Mitt is the only one who can do that.
Yeah, I saw that commentary live. I don't disagree with it. But Romney knew that going in to this he had two options - either risk confrontation with someone who had quite a bit more knowledge and information on the subject OR make the fight about the topic he believed Americans are more concerned with. He is conservative (not aggressive) by nature, and chose the latter one.
I am not positive how this will play out. But you might be surprised at how the public reacts.
I watched with interest the green and yellow lines of undecided voters in the closing arguments, and i noticed that when Obama made his closing arguments, the lines soared on the positive scale but remained static , even dipped below when Romney made his remarks.Something to ponder on.
I dunno, Obama got shellacked in debate one. He came out very strong in the last two debates. Some pundit said that Obama is a fourth quarter guy, and this has turned out to be true.
