Larry Williams update: "Now on the run" - Daily Telegraph

Personally I am not a fan of Mr. Williams nor am I a critic

I posted the technical details so we could get a way from the "cult of personality" issues.

These indicators are simple momentum indicators that Mr. Williams was sharp enough to change around a bit and paste his name on..got to give him that much credit...I could do the same with several existing indicators and then spend a while trying to market it to Esignal and others...The question is does it add any value to the work? How hard or easy is it to use? Does it give you any advantage over a standard momentum oscillator? Presently I don't see it as a big deal one way or another...

Since it is a slow day (by the way sideways day, W% works wonderful, again) and I am getting bored, I can answer your questions at least thos I recall, my pagecount is different than yours:

1. Why Michelle is not a money manager?

because she is not that interested. Just because you are very good at tennis, it doesn't mean you should be a tennis pro. Hell, I have my own 3 music CDs, but I am not a musician. I could make a 4th, but right now I am not interested.

2. Why Larry is teaching?

He answered it on his website and that was already linked in the previous thread. I will summarize it: He likes to do it, it gives him extra income, and I bet travels to seminars can be written off as expenses.

3. Why he is not doing more contests, proves more?

For whom? He has a nice life and a comfortable living. Just the fact that the IRS wants 1.5 mill from him proves that he is doing OK, not to mention lives on the Bermudas...

4. Why nobody else using his system won the contest since?

Times change. Larry himself said he got lucky with the contest and he was risking a lot. He was up at 2 mill actually and lost it back to 1 mill by the end of the contest. It is quite possible that his strategy doesn't work anymore the way he used it. You have to adjust your strategies to the times.

Also we just don't know, what people are using in that contest. Maybe some contestant in the lower ranks still using Larry's systems, just with less risky money management. Note the plurals, I assume he has more than 1 systems...

5. Why he is not showing his late trading records?

Well, I think I mentioned the IRS already.

As about his books and seminars, never bought any of them, don't feel the need.

I don't trade bonds, so I cannot comment. However, I do trade ES. While there is certainly no reason to frown at your short at this moment, I think smiling may be a bit premature. Good luck, though.

I don't know if you are crashing and burning...given your overly negative attitude...I'm guessing you are not killing it. You don't seem to contribute anything to the P&L thread, and you fish for ideas on the P&L question thread....my conclusion...your ES trading is not going that well. BTW...nothing to feel bad about....the ES is one hell of a tough market to make money in.

I guess I don't feel I need to resond to you on anything, perhaps that's why I didn't answer!

*Naturally, no one will let me forget that his teenaged dilettante actress/trader daughter also won the contest more recently, although Larry never did so again. It seems that the Williams's super powers are limited to the Robbins stage. Everywhere else, Kryptonite abounds.

Whoa, hombre. My longs? Where did that come from? Thus far, I only had a brief short in NQ. Nothing to particularly smile about. And nothing yet in ES, the primary market I follow. But thanks for your kind sentiments.

My attitude is not negative. It is merely anti-hype. There is a distinction. People who hype are essentially talking down to you. I don't like being talked down to. I do not post in the P&L thread. My results are nowhere near as impressive as those at the upper end. What would be the purpose of such posts on my part? I have nothing to brag about, and I don't disclose personal stuff of a financial nature to strangers. To each his own. The questions I asked were either for clarification on something of interest, or because I questioned someone's authenticity. Remember nysekiller? The manner in which I trade is my own. I neither ask for, nor provide, proprietary stuff.

NYSEKILLER was sniffed out by Reardon, you just questioned his results. Don't take credit for somene else's work.

DOG....may I suggest you spend less time trolling ET and more time focused on trading, developing your edge, and improving your execution?

Though you might get some personal satisfaction from sniffing out the hypsters, ET is not going to make you a better trader...it isn't going to make you money. What makes money is focus, applied effort, and a constant search for a tradeable edge. Ask yourself....What am I seeing? How can I use this to make money? What can I learn from this?

Ask yourself the right questions and you will find the right answers.

Just a suggestion and a few tips from this humble trader!

Of course Rearden outed nysekiller. However, before that happened, I questioned the manner in which nysekiller's trading grew. And I was met with an incendiary post about that from you. Remember? Both your posts and mine were deleted by the moderator, but mine remains in nysekiller's response post as a quote. Once again, you were defending the hype. We all do what we have to do.

And thanks for the friendly advice. Your humility is touching and your focus is inspiring. Let's leave it at that, shall we?
