Marc Lamont Hills line at the end of the video perfectly sums up the excercise in futility that is big government.
When asked what they are doing about Chicago He says "We are doing lots of things, but you cant suggest that our efforts and our energy can only be justifiable or legitimate if we solve the problem, we spend lots of time in america trying to solve lots of problems and we dont solve many of them, but that doesnt mean we arent doing the work"
In other words, we waste lots of time and money trying to solve problems and we dont accomplish shit, but dont hold us accountable for that.
Couldnt think of a better description of the way government operates if i tried.

No the preferred option is to realise that the war on poverty has been an abject failure, and to change gears and try something else. Instead of continuing the useless "war on poverty" why dont we start putting conditions on people getting handouts? In the 90's when welfare to work was signed poverty dropped dramatically, now Obama has made it easier to get welfare, and easier to get other goodies from the government, and all it has done is create more poverty.
How bout instead of just shovelling more and more money at the problem we actually try to do something to get those people off their feet? Do you think it is a coincidence that when the 99 week unemployment insurance ran out in january the next six months were Obamas first six months of 200k+ job creation.

Ben Carson says no able bodied working adult should get welfare. He stated we need to end welfare as we know it. If people are going to get $$$ then they need to be doing something ... picking up trash along the highway, landscape work for a county/city, etc. Not only do we need something like that but every US citizen should pay at least some federal taxes, even those 100% subsidized by the government.
I would fully accept this concept. Give anyone who needs it, enough money to live, but they have to do to do work fare, it would encourage them not to want to be on welfare.
Ill always remember the first time i had to go to one of those daily work centers, when i was in University, they would give you the shittiest job imaginable, but they would pay you at the end of the day, so when you had no money to eat, you went in and did that for a day.
It was good motivation, the first job i got was offloading an entire semi, which was full of boxes of cans of tuna, and transferring them to pallets, by the end of the day my whole body hurt, and they gave me 48 bucks, I never wanted to do that again, and i thought about it everytime i would think about slacking off in my business, or in school.
