I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt but re reading it over and over he says "their legal property was taken away from them" He did not say that as an opposite absurd argument but something he believes factually.
He then said that if you want to push for reparations for slaves then you should also give reparations to slave owners. It was not a comment that reparations are so absurd why not give it to everyone.... Elder is a lawyer so language matters... he clearly said if you are going to give it to Black people then also give it to slave owners since their property was taken away from them.
You see how he prefaces his comments with "Slavery was legal" so he believes that if reparations are going to be pushed for, then the slave owners deserve restitution to.
It does not matter if you believe reparations are absurd you can simply say that.... to then develop the legal argument that slave owners should be entitled as well shows us where his though process is...

Trumpism runs the GOP and RNC. It’s nothing but culture wars. There is no Bush and Rockefeller power anymore - those types are called RINOs.
You guys seem to fall back on this argument that Americans don’t have any representation in DC as a fallback when the facts are aired out about conservatism.
The truth issues like the minimum wage, healthcare, worker safety, childcare, education have all been abandoned by republicans, not democrats. Democrats are actually trying to push through a massive middle class relief bill right now. And if it gets through millions of real working families all across America are going to feel it.

Hmmm...the more I think about it...I think a Trump / Elder 2024 U.S. Presidential Election will piss off a large part of the Trumpers.

I think Pence noticed all the "Hang Pence" chants on Jan 6th from trump supporters while his family was in the capitol being rushed out.....Pence might be the only GOP happy trump lost so he can get as far away from his as possible.

Spending is D.C problem independent of Reagan.
Inflation is a Money Creation and in circulation problem...not necessarily a US Govt overspending problem.Borrowing should not lead to systemic inflation.

If hte GOP is pushing for tax breaks for the wealthy and protecting big businesses how was Elder going to come in magically eliminate wealth disparities and bring companies back to CA?? How.... by giving companies major tax breaks and social welfare to lure them back to CA? trump made the smae promises and where exactly are all those business coming back to the U.S. to pay higher taxes and labor costs?
Politicians dont give a shit about wealth disparity and income issues... they just want to get elected.

Exhibit A would be to address the serious re-segregation and race-based structuring of society that the progressives have implemented. The lefties think that anyone who opposes it does so because they are conservative. In truth it is repugnant to generations of liberals- or should be.
Opposing government spying on citizens is another area.

The top 1% earn 21% of income and pay 40% of taxes...This is ok..They are paying more then their fair share
