Land of the free? 25% of the world prison population...

It is pretty obvious if you look at a chart of our prison population.

so they are out to get males?

you don't get locked up for using, you get locked up for failing to pay your bribe. Now, if you want to talk about filling private prisons to capacity at taxpayers expense, that is another mater. Who needs a law, we can lock people up for anything from building an unapproved EPA pond to coming up short on your income taxes to smoking pot. If you wanna play you gotta pay.

I disagree with this. You are effectively making the assertion that most cops are dishonest - which I find to not be true.

I do not support private prisons, but only a small portion of prisoners are locked up in privately run facilities currently.

"133,000 state and federal prisoners housed in privately owned prisons in the US, constituting 8.4% of the overall U.S. prison population."

I am a lifelong fan of the USA.
If I was American I would vote republican, i am against abortion, for reducing taxes and minimizing government size and spending.
The conservative thinktanks are the best in the world. I look up to much in American culture and history.

But 2 million people in prison is unprecedented in any culture at any time.
What gives America?

Is there a difference between the republicans and democrats these days? I already know who I am voting for next election; anybody BUT.

Failed "War on Drugs" - Wrong policy and wrong approach.
welcome to the party! We have been saying this since 1970 and very little has changed. Same old tired arguments. Exact same arguments. Nothing changes until somebody can sell it. And that means some money changing hands. I'm over it. You legalize it. I'll just lay low and grow my own.

yes, the ABTI party. Many say they will vote that way but few ever actually do. They even removed it from my ballot to keep people from voting that way.

I usually vote libertarian or constitution party. In Tennessee you also have the option of a write in for any office. Last local election I wrote my own name in for several elections.

Yes, there is a difference.

But only to the extend that the Democrats should be shot FIRST!

we could go the other way. We could give every city or county or state 30 million dollars and tell them, "You can keep this money free and clear, but we will charge you 90k for every prisoner you incarcerate." Then let's see who is more interested in public safety and who is more interested in money.
