KOSPI 200M Korean Future Ban ?

The real problem lies with the fact that US residents cannot trade many products such as foreign cash index options, CFDs, and to my knowledge single stock futures? If this was not the case then the change in definition would have never impacted the ability to trade those products.

But US residents are allowed to gamble in Vegas and lose it all, mortgage their equity to the hilt, play around with cryptos and all other sorts of other gambles. Yet Korean index futures and options are apparently too risky to allow US retail traders to engage in. Go figure...

And no one bother to fight for freedom to trade things like kospi200?

My colleague Matt Kang speaks Korean and I asked him for his input:

South Korea has missed out on upgrade by the MSCI. Most likely it will not be available for trading for another 1 year. The next review is in June 2023. 한국코스피마켓에대한이해도가높은미국회사에서일하는전문가와얘기하는게큰도움이됩니다.

Why would that be the case. It was moved back to being classified as diversified index. Hence retail trading could legally commence at any time.

Had no idea about KOSPI drama. I used to trade it actively over 8 years ago. Very liquid and high tick value. Was awesome. I developed a very short term trading system that was analyzing market depth ACV and Walls. Signals were generated on the screen, but trading was manual. Was very time intensive and not scalable to large AUM. But it was fun for sure:D

Yeah but it does not relate to this thread issue...
you are correct. Will see if we can dig out more relevant information directly from S. Korea.
